HopeKids Show

Bringing Hope to Children Battling Illness

With every production, ACT II extends a heartfelt invitation to families with children battling cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. These families navigate the daunting challenges of medical treatments, emotional upheaval, and financial strain on a daily basis.

Exhausted from their relentless struggles, they are often unable to attend public events due to health concerns. That’s where we step in. Offering them a private show at no cost to them, we create a sanctuary where, for one precious night, they can set aside their burdens and immerse themselves in the enchantment of theatre.

It’s a brief respite—a chance for these families to find solace and joy amidst their journey.

What are HopeKids Families Saying?

“HopeKids provides our daughter with exciting opportunities that help take her mind off doctor appointments and procedures. The events give her something to look forward to and reasons to be brave.”

Serving Schools

Title I (low-income) Schools

Many Students from Title I Schools Have Never Seen a Live Performance

Each play we present is inspired by literature, offering children the opportunity to immerse themselves in the story through reading at school before experiencing its magic live on stage.

We are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience the enriching benefits of live theatre. However, we recognize that many low-income schools face financial constraints that prevent them from even affording subsidized school ticket prices. In response, we raise support to provide additional scholarship assistance specifically tailored to low-income schools.

How Can You Be A Part of This?

  • A $100 donation would cover 10 Title 1 students to attend our next show.

  • A $350 donation would sponsor a full classroom.

  • A $750 donation would sponsor an entire grade at a Title 1 school!

Would you like to sponsor Title1 (low-income) students to attend our next show? Donations of any size are always appreciated and are tax-deductible.

Giving Books

Donating Books

  • ACT II chooses shows that are based on literature so that students can read the book at school and then watch the story come to life on stage.

  • Most families don’t have to think twice about buying books for their children to read, but for families struggling financially, this may be a luxury they can’t afford.

  • Each year, ACT II purchases books for students in Title 1 (low-income) schools. This gives them the opportunity to read the book in advance of the show, just like other children get to do.

Book Distribution

Once we have purchased the books for the students, we wrap them in colorful paper to deliver them to the schools.  Actors personally hand out the gifts to the children.

As the children unwrap their books, we often hear squeals of delight and see joyful smiles!  For some of these children, having a book of their own is rare blessing.
