Actor Information

Your Stage. Your Story.

Who We Are:

Welcome to the Academy of Community Theatre (ACT II) — an award-winning, non-profit theatre company dedicated to bringing literature to life through wholesome, educational, high-quality theatre experiences for schools, families, and the community. ACT II provides young performers with a safe, encouraging environment where they can grow in both talent and character while building confidence on and off the stage.

Our Home Stage:

Each year, ACT II produces two major mainstage productions performed every November and April at the Ent Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs, Colorado. These large-scale productions are performed 6-7 times each before an often sold-out audience. They offer young actors the exciting opportunity to perform in a professional theatre environment. Over the past 25 years, ACT II has welcomed and recruited more than 8,000 performers and participants into its growing theatre family.

Whether you are brand new to the stage or already love performing, ACT II is a place where you can belong, learn, grow, and shine.

Why Audition for a Show?

There is nothing quite like the excitement of live theatre. From the first audition to opening night, being part of a production is an unforgettable experience filled with creativity, teamwork, laughter, and accomplishment.

When you join an ACT II production, you become part of something bigger than yourself. You will:

  • Perform on stage in front of live audiences
  • Build confidence and communication skills
  • Make lifelong friendships
  • Learn to work as part of a team
  • Experience the thrill of storytelling through music, acting, and dance
  • Create memories you will never forget

Many young actors discover that theatre becomes a second home — a place where they are encouraged, challenged, and celebrated.

What Does it Take?

You do not need years of experience to audition for ACT II. What matters most is:

  • A positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn
  • Commitment and reliability
  • Teamwork
  • Enthusiasm and effort

Every production requires dedication, rehearsal time, and collaboration. Actors learn lines, songs, choreography, stage movement, and character development while working closely with directors, choreographers, vocal coaches, and fellow cast members.

At ACT II, students are encouraged to grow at every level — whether it is their very first audition or they are preparing for advanced theatre opportunities in the future.

How Do Actors Benefit?

ACT II productions provide far more than performance opportunities. Young actors receive valuable hands-on training from highly experienced theatre professionals and seasoned performers who are passionate about mentoring the next generation.

Actors involved in ACT II productions gain experience in:

  • Acting and character development
  • Vocal performance and stage presence
  • Dance and choreography
  • Audition preparation
  • Public speaking and confidence building
  • Collaboration and leadership
  • Professional rehearsal etiquette
  • Creative problem solving

Theatre training also helps students develop life skills that benefit them in school, future careers, and everyday life. Many parents find that participation in theatre improves confidence, communication, discipline, and social skills.

Most importantly, ACT II creates an encouraging environment where students feel supported, valued, and inspired to grow both artistically and personally.

Who We Serve

At ACT II, theatre is about more than performance — it is about serving others, inspiring hope, and enriching lives throughout our community.

We serve students, families, schools, and children facing difficult circumstances by creating meaningful theatrical experiences that encourage creativity, confidence, learning, and connection.

Giving Hope

Through our special HopeKids performances, ACT II provides free private shows for families with children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. These evenings offer families a chance to step away from medical challenges and simply enjoy the joy and magic of live theatre together.

Serving Schools

ACT II is committed to making theatre accessible to all students, including Title I and low-income schools. Because our productions are based on literature, students can read the stories in the classroom before seeing them come to life on stage. Scholarship support helps ensure every child has the opportunity to experience live theatre.

Giving Books

Each year, ACT II purchases and donates books to students in Title I schools so they can read the stories connected to our productions. Actors personally deliver the books to students, creating memorable moments that inspire reading, imagination, and excitement for learning.

At ACT II, we believe theatre can educate, encourage, and bring hope — both on stage and beyond it.

Ready to Audition?

If you have ever dreamed of being on stage, this is your moment. Whether you are an experienced performer or stepping into theatre for the very first time, ACT II invites you to audition, grow your talents, and become part of an unforgettable theatre family.
